PERTAPIS Centre for Women & Girls

PERTAPIS Centre for Women and Girls (PCWG) was established in 1990 to provide residential care for those who are from dysfunctional families and are in need of shelter, care and protection, are beyond parental control or are in conflict with the law.

With a capacity of 100, PCWG is home for young female persons from 14 to 21 years old.

Our Mission is to care, protect and educate.

Our Programmes

Back-to-School series
to assist those who are not in mainstream schools

Parenting talks
to assist in parent-child bonding

to encourage sharing of emotions and coping with them

Self-development sessions
that includes moral education, self-reflection, anger management, health & wellness, sexuality, smoking and dealing with grief & loss

Practical life skills
to prepare for work life such as grooming courses, home economics and IT courses

Confidence Building projects
to boost a sense of self-worth like The Rising Star Project and My Beautiful Life

We are looking for Volunteers!!

How can volunteers help us?

There are a few areas that volunteers could be involved in our work to rehabilitate and reintegrate these children and young persons into society as socially responsible individuals.

What is the role of the volunteer?
The volunteer will provide the friendship, support and guidance to the residents in the Homes and aftercare supervisees to help them grow and develop as responsible individuals.

Providing tuition

What is the role of the volunteer?
A tutor will teach, coach and guide the residents in the Homes and aftercare supervisees in their academic subjects. In communicating with them, the volunteer also imparts and shares his/her knowledge and skills.

Organising Activities

What is the role of the volunteer?
The volunteer will plan, coordinate and conduct activities in the Homes. The volunteer will help to organise both indoor and outdoor games such as camps, picnics, educational outings and other social, recreational and cultural activities.

Planning/facilitating Ad-hoc Programmes/Projects

What is the role of the volunteer?
Volunteers who are trained in their area of expertise can deliver lectures, talks and training sessions. Volunteers can also share their knowledge and skills with other volunteers and act as resource persons. Volunteers who have vast experience in counselling and/or social work can be para-counsellors to work with the residents and their families.
