Q & A with Zubaidah

What is your role at Pertapis Children's Home?

I am the House Manager at Pertapis Children's Home (PCH). My role is to ensure the daily operations of the Home are performed seamlessly and efficiently by providing a safe and secure environment for the children and staff. I oversee the children's basic needs such as ensuring quality meals are catered. I am also the liaison person for the donors and sponsors.

What do you enjoy most in your role?

I enjoy interacting with the residents, it not only brightens their day but mine too! It gives me a sense of fulfilment when I see them happy and when their laughter and presence fills the Home. I also enjoy building and keeping good rapport with the volunteers and donors that have supported us at Pertapis. We are thankful for their continuous support and generosity.

How would you describe Pertapis as an organisation?

Pertapis is for the community. I am honoured to be part of an organisation that provides support to children who are neglected and abused. Pertapis not only provides quality education and a safe environment but also prepares the children with life skills to re-integrate back to their families and society.

How has Pertapis supported your career growth over the years?

Pertapis has continuously supported me over the years in career advancement by enabling me to strengthen and upskill myself through courses.

What do you normally do during your free time?

During my free time, I enjoy gardening and love to plant orchids and vegetables. I will donate the plants to the PCH garden when it has grown. 😊
